I hope all the beautiful mamas out there had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! I was fortunate enough to be back in Pennsylvania to see my Maman and for an amazing wedding!
As a Persian gal, I grew up being accustomed to music playing in the house, spontaneous dance parties, and lots of Persian food ::yummm::, but lately life has been super busy! It feels like all work and no play some weeks, which has been making me homesick more than ever. Thankfully, our sweet friends, Mohammad Reza and Ana got married this past weekend!
This was just what my little heart needed! After a long, six hour drive from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania, we got to spend some time with our family, and head to this amazing celebration the next day! Let me tell you, friends, there is something magic, like a natural high, about being around loved ones and playing/dancing to Persian music. For some reason, it made me think I could dance like I was 18 years old again, and 2 days later, I'm STILL sore! My heart is full and my body got a serious workout in, and I am ever grateful for the two! For me, there really is nothing better than being able to share an adventure or happy moment with family.
After a beautiful wedding, instead of driving back nearly an hour to my parents' home, we decided to stay in Portland, PA (who knew there was another smaller Portland?) near the Delaware Water Gap. Our childhood friend and adopted cousin, Nazy, had been spending the last two years renovating this gorgeous home and y'all-- has she got an eye for design! Have you ever heard of hygge? In a nutshell, it means to intentionally recognize a moment or feeling as being cozy. You know that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you are bundled up on a chilly summer day around a campfire making s'mores? That's hygge. It's something Danish people look forward to, and um, hello-- they are the happiest people in the world, so they must be onto something. Basically, Nazy's little house is a bundle of hygge.
The house is set minutes from the Appalachian Trail and literally overlooks the Delaware River. There is even a beautiful pedestrian bridge right across the way, which unfortunately we didn't have time to see, but will definitely explore next time! Don't believe me? Check out some pics from this cozy corner!
That was a super brief house tour, but gosh, if you guys need a getaway in the Pennsylvania area, you should check out Nazy's place! She rents it out on AirBnB, and while many summer weekends are already booked, you can look ahead to the fall dates or just play hooky from work and look for something during the week! Check out the AirBnB link here for available dates.
So what are some way's you find hygge in your life and tend to your emotional well-being? Let us know!
Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose ;) ,
